Delivering a new level of sophistication and style, the elegant Caribbean destination hotel, situated on a mile-long white-sand beach and overlooking Great Bay and the sparkling sea, has turned its attention towards providing a more personalized stay for guests.
The all-inclusive experience now features Champagne check-in, premier liquors, stocked mini bars, beach service, room service, afternoon tea, evening turndown service and a host of other extras. The hotel has also changed its branding to ‘adults only,’ providing a quiet, romantic environment for couples and friends traveling together. Its sister property, the flagship, Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino, continues to be a playful paradise with a new kids club.
Distinct in every detail, rooms and suites are updated with a contemporary Caribbean décor, vibrant colors, smart new furnishings indoors and out including teakwood tables and chairs on guest room balconies, and revamped bathrooms with thoughtful lighting.
Each room or suite features one king or two double beds, balcony or terrace, A/C, flat-screen TV with international channels, clock radio with iPod dock, telephone, coffee maker, WiFi, hair dryer, iron/ironing board, and mini-safe. All accommodations offer a fully-stocked mini bar with soft drinks, and Ocean View rooms have fully-stocked liquor cabinets.
Personalized butler service is now a key feature of the resort, exclusively available to guests who choose to stay in the spacious, sumptuous Miramar Wing’s one or two bedroom butler suites.
The resort welcomes an array of refined dining experiences including the newly-opened Il Pescatore seafood restaurant with its bountiful seafood plate for two, while the same space offers delicious à la carte breakfast complimented by views over the Caribbean Sea. The beachfront Tri Assi Pizzeria specializes in oven-fired authentic Italian pizza and casual daytime dining and at night transforms into the Water’s Edge restaurant. Guests can also enjoy a lavish buffet and a selection of dishes from live cooking stations at the Bay View Restaurant, which was massively renovated with gorgeous new mosaic tiles, exciting cooking stations and convenient seating.
Meanwhile, pool and beach lounging has never been more tempting with spacious sun beds, additional loungers, ample shade and butlers to complete the experience.
Armando Pizzuti, vice president of hotel operations for The Maho Group, is confident that both returnee guests and first-time visitors will be most impressed with the property upgrade, new services and personalized details. “We’ve introduced a new way to stay at Great Bay – an exclusive, adults-only, limitless all-inclusive. From the Champagne check-in to our new butler service, we are here to continuously exceed our guest’s expectations,” he said.
A serene Caribbean haven, the 257-room Sonesta Great Bay Beach Resort & Casino is located on St. Maarten’s one mile stretch of soft white sand near the vibrant capital of Philipsburg, named #1 Latin American/Caribbean Destination by TripAdvisor.com’s 2008 Traveler’s Choice Awards. This four-star property invites guests to unwind with three swimming pools, three restaurants, four bars and the Golden Casino. Adding to the excitement and amenities are a host of water sports, Certified PADI scuba dive center on the resort, tours and excursions, tennis, internet service, meeting rooms and live nightly entertainment.
