RIU Hotels confirms its successful social media policies after reaching over half a millionfollowers on Facebook. Thanks to the chain’s social networking team strategy and customer loyalty its page on the most popular social network in the world now has more than 500,000 fans.
Since the launch of the RIU Hotels Facebook page in 2009, the presence of the hotel on this social network has grown exponentially, during the past year alone its numbers have doubled! Among its fans are guests from 20 different nationalities, the most loyal being Mexicans, Americans, Spaniards and Germans.
For RIU, Facebook has become indispensable; it is a way for the hotel to interact directly with its clients. The company uses this platform to communicate its latest news and to share useful information on the hotels as well as photographs of the new hotels before they appear in other media.
But Facebook is mainly used to stimulate conversations between the hotel chain and its guests. This is why the company considers it a way to encourage customers to share their concerns and experiences as well as any interesting stories.
“We are pleased with the rapid growth our Facebook account has undergone during the last year, especially among our supporters in Germany,” states Ana Alfranca, RIU Social Media Strategist. “Facebook is still our main page, but we are also happy with the results we have seen on our other social networks, especially on Pinterest and Instagram,” she adds.
RIU’s presence on Facebook is part of its strategy to have an increasingly active presence on the most popular social networks such as Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and Google+.
