The Spanish Public Corporation for Tourism Innovation and Technology Management (SEGITTUR), in collaboration with FITUR, has announced the staging of “The AppTourism Awards 2014″ for tourist applications on mobile devices, which seek to recognise the important role that apps now play when tourists organise their trips.
The purpose of the Competition is to recognise the best applications, both Spanish and foreign, that in some way enhance tourists’ experience at some stage during their trip. Those companies that are interested in entering their app for the Competition can do so up until 15th December.
The Jury shall be chaired by SEGITTUR and made up of a number of expert professionals from the technology, tourism, online marketing and communication sectors. The Awards shall be split into two categories: Best Spanish Tourism App and Best Foreign Tourism App. Each of these categories shall be split, in turn, by the following sub-categories: in the Spanish Category we will come across Active Tourism, Sun & Beach Tourism, Cultural Tourism and Tourism Services. The Best Foreign App Category shall be split as follows: Best Destination Guide and App That Most Enhances Tourists’ Experience During Their Trip. “The AppTourism Awards 2014″ are open to applications for mobile devices within the field of tourism, which must be entered by their developers or the holders of their exploitation rights.
The Awards, which shall be presented on 23rd January at FITUR, will consist of a form of recognition offered by SEGITTUR in collaboration with FITUR for the best tourist apps in the different categories. In the case of the Spanish apps, the winners shall also be included in the “Spain Collection” app, which brings together all of the best tourism apps for Spain.
