The 2013 edition of the annual Carnaval International de Victoria that is staged annually in the Seychelles during the last weekend of the month of April has received a six page coverage in full colour in the highly respected ASIA GEOGRAPHIC Magazine.
This carnival referred to as the unique ‘carnival of carnivals’ is now known as the only carnival where all the best carnivals of the world parade side by side followed by cultural troupes from the Community of Nations. In a review published in ASIA GEOGRAPHIC entitled ‘The Colours of Carnaval’, the journalist writes: “Nothing is more fascinating than observing people of different cultures enjoying a celebration… and I did mention the eye-popping colors? Colours that burst your retina – especially when they come with the hottest bodies from Seychelles, Brazil and Reunion Island burning a path down the road. Yes I was mesmerized by the combination of colors, costumes and charisma….
What makes the Carnaval International de Victoria such an attraction for a photographer? Quite simply, there’s everything you need to tell a story within your frame. So get out there and immerse yourself in the moment”.
Seychelles it is said wanted to stage an event where the Community of Nations can come together to showcase their culture and people as they promote their respective country. “It is a fun tourism trade fair as such. Countries fly their flag, and using culture and their people they make themselves visible and relevant in front of the army of International Press who travel to Seychelles to cover this unique event” Alain St.Ange, the seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture said after receiving a copy of the ASIA GEOGRAPHIC Magazine.
The 2014 edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria is set to take place in Seychelles from the 25th to the 27th April 2014.
