The new year for the Seychelles marketing team will start with an appearance at FITUR which opens in Madrid on January 22nd and runs until 26th.
None other than Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, will lead the Seychelles’ delegation to Madrid where he will be met by Bernadette Willemin, Seychelles Tourism Board’s Director for Europe.
Before leaving on Monday for Madrid with an Air Seychelles’ flight via Abu Dhabi, Minister St.Ange addressed the media and stated: ‘Seychelles has been present at this tourism trade fair for many years and I will be accompanied at FITUR only by Bernadette Willemin, our Director for Europe who is based in Paris. Members of the private sector will also join us on the Seychelles stand at this fair’.
Alongside FITUR will the 5th edition of the Tourism Investment Forum for Africa take place (INVESTOUR), co-organized by FITUR, UNWTO and Casa Africa, offering a platform for Africa’s key destinations to meet potential investors from Spain and Portugal besides promoting tourism’s sustainability in the long term.
While in Madrid, it was learned, Minister St.Ange will also meet with UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai in his capacity as a member of the UNWTO Executive Committee while also holding a meeting with his fellow ministers from RETOSA to discuss the future direction of this body of SADC, which brings the tourism ministers together. A sizeable delegation from the Seychelles’ private sector will be present in Madrid to showcase the destination.
Next up on the annual calendar of events in the Seychelles will be the Seychelles – China Day celebrations which this year are scheduled for the 31st January to 02nd February.
