Singapore Changi Airport : Operating Indicators for July 2016

unnamed-361Singapore Changi Airport handled 5.18 million passenger movements in July 2016, a 5.9% year-on-year increase. Aircraft movements were 4.7% higher at 30,790 landings and takeoffs, while cargo shipments rose 9.4% to reach 161,450 tonnes, compared to the same period last year.

 
For the month of July, all of Changi’s top five country markets achieved growth of at least 5%. Passenger traffic between Singapore and China rose 13.4% – to over half a million passenger movements. Among Changi’s top ten cities, Denpasar (+13.1%) and Melbourne (+20.6%) recorded the strongest growth.

 
As at 1 August 2016, more than 100 airlines operate at Changi Airport, connecting Singapore to some 330 cities in about 80 countries and territories worldwide. With more than 6,800 weekly scheduled flights, an aircraft takes off or lands at Changi roughly once every 90 seconds.

 
New Services – On 21 July, Singapore Airlines launched its 3x weekly services to Dusseldorf, a new city link for Changi Airport. Scoot also commenced its second daily Tokyo (Narita) service via Bangkok.

 
New Stores – In the transit areas, Travelex Money Changer now operates six 24-hour money changing outlets across all three terminals. Gadget haven Electronics by Sprint-Cass and childrens’ clothing retailer BloomB have commenced operations in Terminal 1. In Terminal 2, Ramen emporium Ippudo Express, local quick bite favourite Old Chang Kee and American footwear brand Converse have opened. Italian luxury fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna, offering an exquisite range of men’s clothing and accessories, has opened its first Changi store in Terminal 3.

In the public areas, Peach Garden Chinese Dining, serving an array of classic Chinese dishes and dim sum with contemporary flair, has opened at Terminal 2 (Level 3), while snacks store Umeya now operates an island kiosk at Terminal 3 (Basement 2).
