SKY GAME: Domodedovo Offers New Opportunities for Students

1-21213Another four large airports were opened in the Moscow Region: they took their place in the capital’s aviation hub only for two days, and among management of such airport complexes there were students, participants of the Business Game, which is traditionally held by Moscow Domodedovo Airport.

This year the event was called SKY GAME: during the game future Domodedovo employees were able to apply their knowledge and to try their hand at organizing a full cycle of an air hub.

The SKY GAME participants were a hundred and fifty talented and promising students participating in the target Inflow Program which has been implemented by Moscow Domodedovo Airport for over a decade. Together with the students, business professionals and executives of Domodedovo enterprises as well as representatives of partner airlines of the air hub were involved in the Business Game. Dmitriy Kamenshchik, Board Chairman of Moscow Domodedovo Airport, also participated in the Game.

Real-world business processes of an airport are simulated during the Business Game: under the terms of SKY GAME 4 teams of students represented different international airports. Senior management and representatives of Domodedovo and partner airlines of the airport were used to create 10 teams – airlines and governing boards. The Game used user interfaces of the current operational systems of Domodedovo Airport – RMS (Resource Management System), AODB (Airport Operation Database) and others adapted for the purposes and scope of the Game.

In order to achieve favorable financial performance the teams not only provided airport services but as in real life actively promoted the aviation service. For example, in order to create a positive information field the participants used the media landscape formed by several TV channels working in different genres. A fully functional Media Block including a television broadcasting station and mass media worked during the SKY GAME. The team-airport that as a result of implementing its business strategy achieved the best financial performance became the winner of the Game.

The goal of the Business Game is to develop practical skills for effective planning and control of production processes in students trained under the Inflow Program. Thus Domodedovo optimizes adaptation period of future specialists – that’s what participants of the SKY GAME will soon become.

The Business Game is the most prestigious form of promoting students of the target educational Inflow program. It is an effective mechanism for improving HR policy and refreshing the corps d’elite. It helps the airport to find the most talented students and in the longer term to improve skills of future young managers, financiers, marketers, etc.

The Inflow Program aimed at training young professionals has been implemented by Moscow Domodedovo Airport since 2000; it keeps changing, improving depending on the Company’s development and the labor market conditions. Today, the program includes 1,500 participants. This is an opportunity for schoolchildren and students to obtain professional skills, to get acquainted with the structure, business profile and corporate culture of the Company.
