Smoke in the cockpit causes Skywest flight to make an emergency landing at Winnipeg

emergency-landing-300x225Skywest flight 4476 operating as a Delta connection had to make an emergency landing at the Winnipeg airport after smoke was reported in the cockpit shortly after takeoff.

The flight was scheduled to fly from Winnipeg to Minneapolis. The flight took off from Winnipeg at 1:01pm and landed agian at 1:21pm. No injuries have been reported as the plane landed safely according to a spokesperson for the the Winnipeg Airport Authority.

Passengers were taken to the US passenger lounge. A Skywest spokesperson said passengers would resume their flight at 4:00 p.m.

Mechanics are still determining what caused the smoke. If they are able to fix it, the passengers will continue on that plane, otherwise, they will be re-accommodated, the spokesperson said.
