edinburgh-airport-logoTwo brand new soft-play areas have recently landed at Edinburgh Airport, making flying with young children that little bit easier.

The new kid-friendly zones, ideally located opposite Gate 2 and in the south-east pier beside Gate 15 and are open now and means waiting around in the airport with children before boarding your flight can be a bit less stressful.

These fantastic new zones are part of a wider project to help transform Edinburgh Airport into not just Scotland’s busiest airport, but Scotland’s most child-friendly airport.

Created in collaboration with SPI Global Play, these new kid-friendly zones are located opposite Gate 2 and in the south-east pier beside Gate 15 and are open now.

John Watson, Chief Commercial Officer at Edinburgh Airport, said: “As we grow we have the opportunity to improve the experience for all of our passengers, including our youngest fliers. These free soft-play areas will allow children to run around and unwind in a safe environment before boarding their flight while their parents relax and supervise.

“These areas are part of a wider project which will see a much bigger children’s play area created in our departure lounge and sponsored by one of our airline partners later this year. Like our new valet parking offer and special kids meal deals in the terminal, the investment in free play areas shows how the team are working hard to make sure our smallest passengers and their family have a great time.

Fully equipped with padded steps, tunnels and other fun obstacles, the new play areas were created in collaboration with SPI Global Play which has over 40-years of industry experience. The company has designed and built Family Entertainment Centres (FECs) all over the world.

All play areas are designed in accordance with strict health and safety rules and are frequently inspected by the Play Inspection Company Ltd to carry out independent safety inspections.

Erica Rowland, Head of After Sales at SPI Global Play UK, said: “It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to work with Edinburgh Airport and help ensure its passengers, especially children, have a great experience before they fly.
“With almost half a century of experience in this industry, we have designed, manufactured and installed soft play areas all over the world. We’re delighted that SPI Global is now one of the family-friendly facilities at the airport.”
