Marriott International and the legacy Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Foundation, Inc., today announced a $175,000 donation to the Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNE) of Fairfield County’s Community Foundation.
The contribution is in support of Stamford-based charitable organizations. The CNE helps strengthen nonprofits in Fairfield County through education and training, leadership development, technical assistance and grantmaking.
“This gift recognizes the tremendous contributions of Starwood’s nonprofit partners in the Stamford community,” said Michelle Naggar, president of the Starwood Foundation. “It will help ensure local community partners can continue to grow and address the social needs in Fairfield County.”
One of Marriott International’s five core values, Serve Our World, conveys the company’s long-term commitment to its communities and includes financial contributions, in-kind donation of products and services, and the volunteer service of our associates around the world. The issues the company directs its resources to include sustainability, children’s well-being, education and career training in the hospitality industry particularly for young adults, and the empowerment of women, people with disabilities and other underrepresented groups.
Marriott International completed its acquisition of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc. on September 23, 2016.
Fairfield County’s Community Foundation promotes philanthropy as a means to create change in Fairfield County, focusing on innovative and collaborative solutions to critical issues impacting the community. Individuals, families, corporations and organizations can establish charitable funds or contribute to existing funds. The Community Foundation is in compliance with the Council on Foundations’ national standards, and has awarded over $212 million in grants to nonprofits in Fairfield County and beyond.
