Steigenberger-Hotel-GroupTwo “old hands” have been named as “General Managers of the Year” at the Frankfurt-based Steigenberger Hotel Group. Hans J. Kauschke, Director of the Steigenberger Grandhotel Handelshof in Leipzig, and Monika Schnepf, Manager of the InterCityHotel Augsburg, received their awards at this year’s Business Conference staged at the Steigenberger Airport Hotel.

“I congratulate Hans J. Kauschke and Monika Schnepf on their awards. The extraordinary degree of commitment they have shown in 2013 and the ongoing success they have achieved over a period of years were the crucial factors in the decision to confer this honour,” commented Puneet Chhatwal, CEO of Steigenberger Hotels AG.

Berlin-born Hans J. Kauschke has been at Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts since 1981. After starting out as Rooms Division Manager at the Steigenberger Hotel in Berlin, he later went on to manage the same establishment. In 2005, he moved to become Director of the new Steigenberger Hotel de Saxe in Dresden. He relocated to Leipzig in April 2011 as the Director of the Steigenberger Grandhotel Handelshof to support the new hotel’s pre-opening phase before placing it on the market in a highly successful manner. One of the many awards won by the Steigenberger Grandhotel Handelshof this year is the “Trip Advisor Hotel of the Year”.

Monika Schnepf joined the Steigenberger Hotel Group in 1993 as Deputy Manager at the InterCityHotel in Nuremberg and became General Manager in 1997. In 2000 Monika Schnepf moved to Egypt and became General Manager of the Steigenberger La Playa Resort in Taba/Egypt. She took over as Director of the InterCityHotel Augsburg in 2003. This year, she has overseen a full renovation of the 120 rooms in the hotel.
