Whitewater rafting is a thrilling adventure for all ages and skill levels and Adventure Calls Outfitters, a premier whitewater rafting company, has one more weekend open for river trips in Oswego County this summer. Sign up now to ride the rapids on Saturday and Sunday, August 2 and 3.
Flowing through the village of Altmar, N.Y., the Salmon River creates Class III rapids to satisfy most adventure-seekers. “The Salmon River is by far the best trip we have,” said Kevin Kretschmer, president of Adventure Calls Outfitters. “We always have new guests coming from places like Buffalo, Saratoga Springs and even as far as Canada to raft the Salmon River. Our trips are family-oriented and geared for all age and skill groups, so no experience is necessary.”
Trips are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days. Early morning rides are also available and are promoted on Groupon for cheaper rates. Reservations are required for all excursions, which depart from the Brown’s Family Campground in Altmar. The rafting trip usually takes about three hours and includes body-surfing the rapids, surfing upstream and battling the mighty river. Professional river guides are present during each trip to ensure an enjoyable adventure. Life jackets are included as well as shuttle buses for entering and exiting the river.
The company has been in business for over 20 years and takes more than 300 daily guests out rafting at Letchworth State Park, Cattaraugus Creek and the Salmon River.
