Weather forecasters have issued a new alert for Ireland, warning strong winds and gusts of up to 130 km per hour. According to reports, temperatures will drop to lows of 0 to 2 degrees overnight. Met Eireann has warned drivers of frost with icy stretches on untreated surfaces.
Met Eireann said a red alert may be warranted next week as forecasters are predicting more high winds. Currently, a national weather warning – status orange – is in effect. It is yet to be known whether schools and colleges will be closed due to tumultuous weather conditions.
Tourists are advised to check with local authorities before travelling to any destination.
