Sydney Airport today welcomed the NSW government’s announcement of new and additional bus services to the airport.
“We’re pleased that the state government has added two new bus routes servicing the airport: Chatswood to Sydney Airport via Sydney CBD and Botany Road; and Bondi Junction to Miranda via Sydney Airport,” Sydney Airport Chief Executive Officer, Kerrie Mather, said.
“Around a third of the 28,000 people who work at the airport live in the St George-Sutherland Shire area so the new route to Miranda will be particularly welcomed by airport staff.
“Travellers and staff will also benefit from the increased frequency of the existing Route 400 service from Bondi Junction to Burwood via Sydney Airport.
“We’ve long advocated for additional and more affordable bus and train services to the airport, with only one public bus route to the airport until now.
“Sydney Airport has also long encouraged greater use of public transport such as buses. Our recently submitted master plan includes the creation of a new bus and multi-purpose parking facility to ensure that these new and expanded bus routes can easily access our airport terminals.
“These new and increased bus routes are a good first step towards easing road congestion, meeting passenger demand, and providing people with more choice and convenience when getting to and from the airport.
“We hope the government continues to prioritise public transport options for the more than 150,000 people travelling to and from the airport every day.”
