Thailand1The situation in Thailand is completely safe for tourists. The Tourism and sports ministry of Thailand is determined that by adopting safety measures, tourism is bound for an increase in the peak season.

A panel of 30 ministers was in meeting with the Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul discussing the tourism situation under the military government.

The minister asked the panel for their suggestions on how tourists could be made to feel absolutely secure in Thailand.

The Minister assured that tourists will receive the greatest of care and security once they come to visit the country.

Important concerns raised by foreigners visiting Thailand were visas and immigration schemes, taxi problems and tourist scams. The government is however already working on multiple-entry visa that will likely be valid for six to 12 months. It is expected to go into effect in December.

Concerns over rouge taxis were also discussed which offer service in Bangkok, Phuket and Chang mai. They are often given into overcharging, cheating and refusing passengers. The ministry assured that it will be acting with full responsibility in tackling tourist scamming problem by adding more police and volunteers to tackle this problem both in the capital and the upcountry.
