The National Conference Center received a 2012 Gold Adrian Award from Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) at the annual Adrian Awards Dinner Reception and Gala in New York this week. The prestigious awards are presented to those who have contributed outstanding advertising, digital marketing and public relations campaigns to the hospitality industry.
The award-winning campaign: “When Bad Things Happen to Good Planners” was created by Dana Communications of Princeton, NJ as a “unique opportunity to communicate how choosing a specialist like The National Conference Center will not only help you avoid disaster, but can guarantee you a flawless event where customers can count on everything being just right” said Bob Prewitt, President of Dana Communications.
The National Conference Center is a leader in hosting meetings and training events. NCC General Manager, Kurt Krause, inspired the concept based on his intimate understanding of the NCC customer and how their center stands out from other venues that do not focus on the meeting experience. Krause noted that the key message of the campaign was that The National Conference Center is designed to “handle everything related to your meeting” which allows for a “disaster-proof event.” The winning campaign successfully communicated this key message to national meeting planners and trainers across multiple industries, offering an unusual and entertaining approach to illustrate how a less-than effective meeting environment can lead to disastrous results.
The carefully crafted videos were supported by a media campaign that included print, emails, banners, website button, social media promotion (blogs, Twitter and Facebook posts), as well as Public Relations support.
The National Conference Center and Dana Communications also received the Bronze Adrian Award for the controversial group sales entry: “Campaign in Response to GSA Spending” which drew attention to the GSA’s lavish spending spree in Las Vegas. The effective campaign positioned GM Kurt Krause in a leadership role as a spokesperson to “bring balance and positive direction and to demonstrate the value and responsibility of choosing The National Conference Center for government meetings and training.”
