download-311The Star Event Centre marks its first year in operation this week after celebrating a year of event success.

The first official event to be held in the state of the art multi- purpose Event Centre was the sell-out performance series of Australian icon John Farnham, 24 and 25 January 2013. From that highlight event, the year was then a roll call of international superstar performances, featuring some of Australia’s and the world’s finest acts including Seal, Ricky Martin, Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Alicia Keys and comedian Chris Tucker.

In its first month of operation the Event Centre hit a high, hosting Australia’s own Oscars – the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTAs). The week-long event saw legends of the screen hit the red carpet and celebrate the continuing success of the Australian Cinema and Television industry.

Undoubtedly, one of the major event highlights for The Star and Sydney was the Australian movie premiere of World War Z, featuring Brad Pitt. The premiere was the first event of its kind to be held in a non-cinema or theatre space in Sydney and was attended by Sydney’s elite, welcoming the world’s most well-known actor on his first visit to Australia.

Following Brad was world renowned Alicia Keys, who performed to a sold out audience and helped round out a year of global success for the Event Centre.
Alicia’s world class performance was elevated even higher with the addition of the Event Centre’s new permanent vision capability.

A 15m x 15m display screen comprised of 220 LED panels can be scaled to fit with any style of event from an international superstar rock concert to the unveiling of a new product. A testament to the flexibility of the space, The Star also welcomed a number of corporate clients who chose the Event Centre to deliver a slew of charity events, product launches, awards nights, gala dinners and the kick off plenary session for Asia Pacific’s largest tech industry conference, Ce BIT.

Finalising the year of success, the final major event for 2013 was the 27th Annual ARIA Awards heralding the first time the entire event program, including the main event, were held within one precinct.

In describing the year that was, Marco Warren, A/ Director of Sales shares an insight into what has made the Event Centre’s first year such a success, “The Event Centre as a venue is truly world-class and like nothing the Australian events and entertainment industry has witnessed. With one of the finest audio visual systems in the world, it has been lauded by major music producers the world over,” Mr Warren said.

“Technology and surrounds aside, the underlying success of the Event Centre has been the team of experts that deliver exceptional events each and every time,” Mr Warren added.
In its first year The Star has welcomed 146,000 people to the Event Centre and hosted over 200 corporate and consumer events.

In addition, Marquee nightclub hosted a range of private corporate events for a range of blue-chip businesses throughout 2013. The Marquee space can accommodate up to 1,000 guests cocktail style. By day, the Marquee space converts to versatile meeting space available for hire.
