gatwick-londonGatwick and Thomson Airways, the airline for Thomson and First Choice, are delighted to announce a new long term strategic commercial partnership that will enable the airline to build on its strong presence at the airport. It will also support both Thomson’s and Gatwick’s ambitions to deliver great service to its customers.

Thomson Airways has an extensive history at Gatwick and has operated services from the airport for more than 50 years. It has grown with the airport to become the third biggest airline at Gatwick today, serving more than 60 destinations across the globe. As well as offering passengers an extensive range of short haul routes, Thomson also has a strong long haul network and flies to destinations as diverse as India, Mexico, Jamaica and Thailand from Gatwick

This year marked a major new milestone for Thomson passengers travelling from Gatwick with the airline operating its first services on the state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Thomson Airways has taken delivery of four Dreamliners this year and has been operating flights to Cancun, Mexico, Sanford Orlando and in November commenced the first direct flight to Phuket, Thailand from the UK. Next summer it will also be introducing routes to Mauritius and Puerto Vallarta on the West Coast of Mexico, all operating on the Thomson 787 Dreamliner.

Chris Browne, Managing Director of Thomson Airways, said: “We are delighted to further develop our longstanding relationship with London Gatwick through this new agreement which gives us more certainty than ever at the airport to make long term growth plans. We will continue to modernise our aircraft fleet to enhance the holiday experience for our customers and are particularly looking forward to developing our long haul offer on the revolutionary Dreamliner from Gatwick. We will also work closely with the airport to ensure we are providing the best experience possible for our customers, across every point of their journey through the airport.”

Stewart Wingate, CEO of London Gatwick, said: “Thomson and Gatwick have enjoyed a long and successful relationship over many years. This commercial partnership will ensure passengers can look forward to many more years of destination and service innovation from Thomson in the future. Thomson’s commitment to investing in new aircraft such as the Dreamliner, which is changing the shape of the aviation industry, and delivering greater choice to passengers, is well aligned to Gatwick’s own relentless focus on delivering the very best passenger experience and our ambitious plans for expansion.”
