“Topiaries” Exhibit Takes Shape At Denver International Airport

Published on : Saturday, November 19, 2016

denverDenver International Airport’s (DEN) Art and Culture program presents a new exhibit featuring an exceptional series of abstract paintings. The exhibit is located at the Terminal Gallery on level 5 west of the Jeppesen Terminal near the north security checkpoint, from November 2016 through February 2017.
Artist Angela Beloian produced “Topiaries” as a meditative and subtle exploration of organic forms in an effort to quiet life’s bombardment of stimuli.

Paintings within the exhibit are constructed much like a gardener shapes a topiary; Beloian physically ties elements in her paintings together. Her sewing suggests the work has organically grown in reaction to this process. The sewn paintings and large scale mural within “Topiaries” collectively employ ink, yarn, and latex paint. Her work harkens back to growing up within a family that appreciated handmade things and who practiced woodworking and knitting.
