Travel friendly QR code to help navigate Kerala better

Kerala-TourismKerala Tourism has introduced a travel friendly app to make it easier for visitors to gather information about their state. A quick respond (QR) code in the website will help you to get the exact information that you want about any destination in Kerala. The application can be downloaded in smartphones.

 

Kerala is the first state in India to has launched such a facility for tourists. Tourists will no longer require external help as through the QR Code, they will know how to get to a  place and what to look out for.

 

The Kerala Tourism additional director (general) T.V. Anupama said that “Kerala Tourism has already established hundreds of QR coded sign boards across the state. The traveller can scan the QR code using a smartphone or a tab which has a QR code reader. The QR code will also be carried on tourism-related magazines and brochures”

 

“The traveller can select the radius of the location which he wishes to know about. The predetermined distance varies from 2 to 50 km,” she added.

 

The website includes a total of 1,200 geo tagged photos from all over Kerala, 75 photos from each district also find place in the website.

 

The website gives visitors the opportunity to upload geo tagged photos to the website with their QR code through smartphones. The photos will go through verification from the tourism authorities after which they will be included in the collection.
