UnionPay International announced that the New Yaohan in Macau will launch a campaign lasting for two months for using UnionPay QuickPass service from May 9 to provide holders of UnionPay cards (card number starting with 62) with more convenient, preferential and secure payment services. All the buses in Macau have previously enabled acceptance of UnionPay QuickPass service.

Hong Kong and Macau are relatively mature markets for using UnionPay QuickPass outside the Chinese mainland where a total of 3,200 POS terminals accept UnionPay QuickPass cards. In Macau, all buses have started to accept UnionPay QuickPass payment, and the local government is also introducing QuickPass service to the field of government service and utility fees collection, providing convenience for cardholders to pay for small amount taxes or fees. Meanwhile, cardholders can also pay by waving their cards in front of contactless terminals in supermarkets, convenience stores, coffee shops, restaurants, public transportations, parking lots, pharmacies and other daily consumer areas. As the acceptance of QuickPass improves, a total of about 300,000 UnionPay QuickPass cards have been issued in Macau, providing local residents with conveniences in daily spending.

As the only department store in Macau, New Yaohan is a must-go shopping place for local residents and tourists where all supermarkets and food plazas have enabled UnionPay QuickPass service. This cooperation between New Yaohan and UnionPay International will bring cardholders more preferential QuickPass experience. From Monday to Sunday during the period from May 9 to July 12 (except for VIP day), holders of UnionPay QuickPass cards are entitled to redeem MOP20 New Yaohan cash coupons upon spending of MOP100. From May 9 to 7 June, every Saturdays to Sundays, UnionPay cardholders are entitled to redeem complimentary MOP130 New Yaohan Cash coupons upon spending of MOP5,000. The two offers can be enjoyed at the same time.

UnionPay QuickPass is a chip-based innovative product with contactless payment function. Cardholders could pay by simply waving the card in front of contactless payment terminals. Compared with payment by QR code scanning, QuickPass is more secure and not subject to Wifi network and international roaming flow restrictions. QuickPass could help cardholders to be free from complicated payment procedures, reduce cashier’s processing time, and improve checkout efficiency. Due to its swift, convenient and secure service advantages, UnionPay QuickPass is welcomed by more and more overseas merchants and consumers.

Latest data shows a total of over 1 billion UnionPay IC cards have been issued globally and innovative applications based on IC cards are increasingly enriched. Currently, UnionPay International is making efforts to launch QuickPass service in Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Taiwan and other countries and regions where UnionPay card business is more mature. The QuickPass acceptance coverage is gradually expanding. The Doota Mall and more than 8,000 GS25 convenience stores in South Korea and shopping malls, fashion stores, and chain bookstores in Taiwan have successively launched the QuickPass service. In addition, UnionPay International is accelerating the issuance of UnionPay QuickPass cards in Hong Kong, Macau, Cambodia and some other markets to provide local residents with convenient payment services for their daily spending and international travels.
