Flights are being scrapped in holiday destination Bali due to volcanic ash. Thousands of holiday makers are stuck as the ash could lead to the closure of the Lombok airport which is continuing for the third consecutive day.
Mount Rinjani, on the island of Lombok, east of Bali, has been spewing ash from the Barujari Crater since 25 October after the volcano erupted. The ash was blown towards the Denpasar’s airport since the last week.
Darwin Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre released a statement saying eruptions were ongoing with ash “clearly discernible” and moving westwards.

Travellers have been asked to check their travel schedules as a number of airlines, Singapore, Virgin, Jetstar, AirAsia and other carriers have been cancelled from and out of Bali.
