Mandarin-Oriental-PudongMandarin Oriental, Washington DC is pleased to announce Amidon-Bowen Elementary School of Southwest Washington, D.C. as the beneficiary of the hotel’s sixth annual FANtastic March 5K fundraiser.

On Saturday, October 29, 2016 hotel colleagues and guests will lace up for the run/walk around the National Mall.

In an effort to provide continued support to local charities, Amidon-Bowen Elementary has been selected for an additional year of support. In 2012, the hotel’s charitable efforts raised over USD 40,000 to help rebuild the Title 1 School’s library. This year’s fundraising efforts will go towards the purchase of laptop computer carts which will enable computer access to all students. The carts allow up to 30 laptops to be secured, recharged and rolled from classroom to classroom. Currently, the school’s computer lab only has 25 desktop computers and a limited number of computers spread across the classrooms.

“It’s wonderful to see that every year our FANtastic Marches continue to grow in participation and fundraising efforts, allowing us to provide assistance to many worthy organizations in our neighborhood,” said Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC General Manager, Adriaan Radder. “This year we wanted to help the academic growth of our Southwest community and focus on the students of Amidon-Bowen. The laptop computer carts will provide students with access to the tools they need to be successful, which will in turn help them to be strong members of their community.”

The Sixth Annual FANtastic March will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 29 on the hotel’s front drive and wind around the National Mall before returning to the hotel for a celebratory breakfast and silent auction at approximately 11 a.m.

The fee to participate in the walk is USD 45 per person and includes pre-race snacks and stretching session, event t-shirt and post-race breakfast.
