Women’s Beach Tennis: Reunion Island sisters face world’s no. 1

20140807-0115_mAfter Riccione  and Moscow , Marie-Eve and Mathilde Hoarau traveled to Torre del Lago (Italy) for its grade 1 beach tennis tournament on Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27. Reunion Island has a good performance record in the quarter finals of this world championship.

After the first round, the Hoarau sisters won against the Italian pair, and the Reunion Island pair then met the German-Italian pair. The meeting ended with victory by the Hoarau pair in straight sets. Arrivals in the quarterfinals, Marie-Eve and Mathilde Hoarau, respectively ranked No. 10 and 3 globally, and must compete with the world’s no. 1 in beach tennis: Brazilian Barijan/Cortez. In the semifinals, it was the Italian Cimatti/Bacchetta designated to face the Reunion Island players who won the tournament thereafter.

 

These two Honorary Ambassadors of Reunion Island have “done a very good tournament, proud to have won good matches, including a win against the no. 1 global.” Next step: the individual world championship in Cervia, Italy. International players will have to watch themselves as they face the Réunion Island pair who are even more motivated than ever to win!
