A moment of nostalgia. On 25 November, at the proposal of Alstom Hungary, the city of Budapest, the Centre for Budapest Transport and the Budapest Transport Company named two new Metropolis train sets in honour of two legendary football players: Jenő Buzánszky and Gyula Grosics.
On 25 November 1953, their team beat England, home, 6 to 3, a team that was unvanquished in its stadium for ninety years.
Sixty years after their exploit, the Mayor of Budapest Istvan Tarlos and Alf Henryk Wulf, Vice president Alstom for Central Europe, unveiled a commemorative plaque in each of the train sets.
This is the first time in the history of Budapest that a public transport vehicle has been named after a famous personality.
Moreover, it is also the first time that an Alstom metro train set has been named after famous sportsmen.
