atlanta-international-airportHartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, together with the greater airport community, hosted “Holidays @ Hartsfield-Jackson”—the Airport’s annual holiday celebration—on Friday, December 6. “Holidays @ Hartsfield-Jackson,” which welcomes first-graders from the Airport’s Partnership in Education schools, is a program designed to educate students about cultures around the globe and to spread holiday cheer to metro Atlanta’s youth. More than 600 first-graders participated on Friday.

“Holidays at Hartsfield-Jackson is a program that I look forward to every year,” said Hartsfield-Jackson General Manager Louis Miller. “Not only are we able to provide a platform for our local first-graders to learn from leaders in our community, but the energy and enthusiasm of our young guests remind all of us of the many gifts we have been blessed with.”

Celebrating the holiday traditions of countries around the world, the annual event this year featured the consuls general from Canada, Haiti, Israel, Mexico and Liberia, as well as the director general of the economic and cultural office of Taiwan. Students were also treated to visits from Sprinkles the Clown; a magician from D’Avante Parks Magic Show; Puppeteer Peter Hart; Santa and Mrs. Claus; Mickey and Minnie Mouse; Cinderella; Princess Tiana; and Batman and Spiderman; as well as a performance by the Tri-Cities High School band and cheerleaders.

This year, students from Mary M. Bethune, Love T. Nolan, S. L. Lewis, Paul L. Dunbar, Humphries, Emma Hutchinson, Parklane, Brookview, and G. W. Northcutt elementary schools participated in the program.
