Macdonald Hotels & Resorts Celebrate Outstanding Employers At National Awards Ceremony

highachievers13Ten employees from across Macdonald Hotels & Resorts have been recognised for their outstanding work in 2013, beating stiff competition from across the country to be crowned Macdonald Hotels & Resorts High Achievers at a grand awards ceremony and gala dinner earlier this month.

The ceremony hosted by the group’s Chief Executive, David Guile, at Macdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham, celebrated those who have excelled in their duties over the last year. It also marked the group’s most recent achievement of being named AA Hotel Group of the Year 2013/14.

Winners included: Fraser Letham of Macdonald Crutherland House, East Kilbride for Fitness Instructor of the Year; Iain Robertson of Macdonald Houstoun House, West Lothian for Bartender of the Year; Martha Wood of Macdonald Swan Hotel, Grasmere for Receptionist of the Year; Danielle Robinson of Macdonald Alveston Manor Hotel, Stratford-upon-Avon for Reservationist of the Year; Manuel Fernandes Luz of Macdonald Randolph Hotel, Oxford for Chef of the Year, Megan Fairclough of Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa for Conference and Events Porter of the Year; Rebecca Gooding of Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa for Waiter of the Year; Anna Suwala of Macdonald Berystede Hotel & Spa near Ascot for Spa Therapist of the Year; Elizabeth Corcoran of Macdonald New Blossoms Hotel, Chester for Housekeeping Assistant of the Year; and Abigail Davey of Macdonald Frimley Hall Hotel & Spa for Conference & Events Sales Co-ordinator of the Year.

Now in its sixth year, the Macdonald Hotels & Resorts High Achievers Awards offer individual hotels the opportunity to nominate their outstanding team members to find the highest achieving employee in a range of categories including reception, restaurant and bar, and housekeeping. The ‘High Achievers’ award system, recognises and rewards those who have made a concerted effort to develop their skills and knowledge, as part of the group’s commitment to offering the highest quality of product and service.

With over 100 staff nominated across the group’s 45 hotels, candidates in all categories underwent a series of rigorous tests to be determined as the overall winner. Along with role specific criteria, nominees were judged knowledge of the group, the delivery of their role and the feedback received from the candidate’s general manager and customers.

Following our AA Hotel Group of the Year win, it is now a pleasure to acknowledge our staff, whose hard work and commitment is integral to the ongoing success of the group.

“The High Achievers Awards were established to encourage our staff to develop their careers, and improve their skills in the knowledge that their efforts will be recognised and rewarded.
