Macdonald Windsor Hotel was a runner-up for a much sought after Catey Green Hotel of the Year Award coming in closely behind the London’s Savoy Hotel. The winners were announced at a gala dinner and presentation ceremony at the London Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel last Friday (29th November).
Now in their seventh year, the Caterer and Hotelkeeper magazine’s Hotel Cateys are the industry’s only truly independent benchmark of operational excellence. Since their launch, the awards have celebrated the most successful hotels, hoteliers and hotel employees across the UK. Nearly 90 judges shortlisted the nominees in 14 categories.
Proud to have achieved runner-up status, Beverley Molmans, General Manager at Macdonald Windsor, said; “We owe much of our eco credentials to our ‘green champion’ Greg Brown who has worked with our ‘green team’ to ensure our environmental initiatives are maintained and continually developed for the benefit of our guests and future generations.”
This accreditation follows the four AA red star hotel’s success in winning a Silver Award in the Business Tourism category at the Beautiful South’s Awards for Excellence 2013-14, sponsored by Shopper Anonymous, last week. The hotel also recently won a Silver Green Tourism Business Scheme award.
Part of the Macdonald Hotels Signature Collection, the three year old boutique townhouse hotel was designed from the outset to be green incorporating as many environmentally friendly initiatives as possible. The hotel group’s green credentials, were recognised by scooping the prestigious2012/13 AA Eco-Hotel Group of the Yearaward; Macdonald Hotels & Resorts was also awarded AA Hotel Group of the Year 2013/14.
With plush interiors designed by Amanda Rose, the boutique townhouse hotel has 120 bedrooms including ten luxurious suites with views of Windsor Castle.
