Simon Lomas appointed as the new Deputy General Manager of Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre

Simon-Lomas-250x300Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) has appointed Simon Lomas as Deputy General Manager, taking over from Alan Pryor who will become the General Manager of the Centre upon the retirement of Datuk Peter Brokenshire in March 2014.

Lomas will oversee the day-to-day operation of the Centre including managing the audio-visual and technical services, catering, event co-ordination and exhibition services as well as international, regional and local promotional activities.

Prior to joining the Centre, Lomas was four years with the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Australia’s largest business events venue, which he joined in March 2010 as Director of Food & Beverage responsible for developing and implementing strategies aimed at setting the venue apart from its competitors whilst facilitating the day-to-day operations to achieve optimum results. He then assumed the post of Director of Operations, managing a team of 135 employees and accountable for a budget of over RM179 million (AUD60 million).

Lomas career path also includes experience with several food services and hospitality management companies in Australia including Delaware North Australia and Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales.

A Bachelor of Science graduate in Hotel, Catering & Institutional Management from University College Cardiff, Wales, Lomas is a member of Venue Management Association (Asia Pacific) Limited and a board member of Wine Communicators of Australia.
