CHUTE-FOR-THE-STARS-WITH-NEWCombining the thrill of powerchuting and the allure of an evening al fresco amid the constellations, the new Chute for the Stars experience at Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North offers guests two unique ways to take in the skies.

“There is certainly something magical about the Arizona sky,” says astronomer Richard Allen, who partners with the Resort to lead weekly, complimentary guided stargazing every Friday night. “Whether at night under a blanket of stars or in the morning, when the sun is rising and bathing the landscape in colour, the desert offers a unique perspective at every time of day.”

The Chute for the Stars experience begins with a morning of powerchuting, courtesy of Arizona Powerchutes. Take flight in a two-passenger cart with a motor, prop and wheels suspended about 20 feet (6 metres) below a nearly 40-foot (12 metre) parachute. The flight departs from Pleasant Valley Airport, and lasts approximately 30 minutes. The experience includes transportation to and from the Resort, the flight itself, certificate of completion, pilot’s log book and a DVD capturing the moment on camera.

Upon return to Four Seasons, enjoy an evening Celestial Picnic under the stars. The Celestial Picnic is presented in a deluxe basket with all the traditional accoutrements, including a blanket and constellation chart to view the stars. Executive Chef Mel Mecinas can customize a basket with items of the guest’s choosing, or they may select from set menus. Enhance the experience with a private stargazing session by Richard Allen, who uses his high-powered telescope to uncover the mysteries of the night sky.

The Chute for the Stars experience can be booked in conjunction with any package at Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale; for inquiries and reservations, call 480 513 5075. Rates begin at USD 329.00 per person, inclusive of the powerchuting and a basic Celestial Picnic set. Guests may add the private stargazing session for USD 150.00.

Arizona Powerchutes’ flight instructor Randy Long became the first FAA-certified flight instructor for powered parachutes in the state of Arizona in 2008. At the same time, he was appointed the official representative of Six Chuter, the leading manufacturer of powered parachutes in the United States. His career credits include hot air balloon pilot and travel agent, and his two loves remain aviation and travelling the globe.
