Skygate will host two of Queensland’s favourite chefs at the annual free Christmas Masterclass on Saturday 7 December 2013.The ever popular Alastair McLeod said he is excited to be joined this year by his great mate, Sunshine Coast-based Matt Golinski.“Matt is a wonderful chef and I am looking forward to working with him to showcase some of Queensland’s great produce available at Skygate,” Alastair said.
Alastair can’t wait to share a couple of his favourite recipes including a modern twist to the classic Pavlova.
“I will be reinventing the traditional holiday turkey with some wonderful flavours as well as sharing my secrets of the festive Pavlova,” he said.The delicious recipes will showcase the fruit and veg available at Woolworths and award winning Clancyjames meat, paired with the perfect wine from Dan Murphy’s.
Matt will be cooking up the tastes of summer, with King prawns and chicken on the menu.
“Alastair and I share a passion for using fresh, local produce,” Matt said. “I like to eat fresh simply-prepared meals that are healthy and made with love.”There is a lot of love between Matt and Alastair who have been friends for over a decade including many years working together on the television program Ready Steady Cook.“Matt’s a great mate and I have enormous respect for him as a chef and as a person. We both really enjoy doing these cooking demonstrations together,” Alastair said.“We met 12 years ago on an educational trip to the Yarra Valley learning about salmon roe. We bonded over learning how to hand-milk the salmon; which I can tell you is a unique experience!”
Alastair’s stories, Irish humor and cooking games with the audience have been a clear highlight of the annual Masterclass event, and this year will be no different.“There will be lots of shenanigans! Plus lots of great food of course,” Alastair said.Audience members can take home recipe booklets, and purchase all of the ingredients needed at The Village Markets to recreate the magic at home.As well as cooking demonstrations, there will be samples, Dan Murphy’s wine matches, games, giveaways and free gingerbread decorating for the kids.

No bookings are required to attend the Masterclass, just turn up on the day!
