60 passengers were forced to evacuate a TTC subway train east of Kipling station due to Signal problems on 18.12.13
It was initially thought that the train was going to be derailed but it was later discovered that the train had not left the tracks.
The first crew that was on scene took a look and thought it might possibly be a derailment and the passengers were taken off from the train safely.
On further investigations it was determined that derailment had not actually taken place.
The incident was first reported just before 9 a.m. with full service resuming shortly before 10 a.m. on the Bloor-Danforth line. Twitter was initially ablaze with tweets about the derailment, before TTC confirmed that it was a signal problem.
TTC staff, with the help of the fire department, helped guide the passengers off the train. The train was already travelling slowly due to earlier signal problems.
