The number of business visitors to the UK has reached its highest level since 2008.
Last year business visits rose by 7 per cent compared with 2013, according to new figures from VisitBritain.
The UK saw visitors spend a record £21bn in 2013, some 13 per cent more than the previous record from 2012.
There were also a total of 32.89 million visits from overseas in 2013, 6 per cent more than in 2012.
Sandie Dawe, CEO at VisitBritain, said: “Not only have we managed to surpass the £20bn barrier for the very first time, but we’ve broken records for holidaymakers and visitors from key growth markets such as China and South Korea.
“Every pound invested in our tourism marketing results in visitors spending £19 in this country. The financial benefits from inbound tourism are clear for everyone to see.”
