The village festival in Italy was marred with flash floods and thunderstorm leaving about 20 people severely injured. The town on Refrontolo, some 40 miles north of Venice was in a festive mood when all the celebration was drowned by a sudden deluge.
Trees were knocked down and cars were swept away as torrential muddy water gushed into the town.
About 200 men were swept away in the nearby river; people were caught unaware by the storm that appeared without warning.
Those who managed to cling to tree trunks and branches were saved.
Meanwhile in Bulgaria torrential rain forced evacuation of 500 people from the small town of Mizia. One person has been reported dead and the town has been completely flooded. More than 50 houses have collapsed after Skut River’s banks were broken. 15 people are reported dead in Romania and Bulgaria from the floods.
