Kuoni Group Travel Experts organise for leading Asian travel agents to learn about Europe’s destinations

Published on : Friday, April 10, 2015

kuoniMore than 20 leading hoteliers from eleven European destinations to visit Singapore and Jakarta next week (15-22 April 2015) to showcase their properties to travel agents booking group tours. Organised by Kuoni Group Travel Experts, the world’s leading group travel provider, the trip gives agents the chance to learn more about the accommodation and experiences that await travellers benefiting from economic growth in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Hoteliers from Austria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Switzerland and the UK will join Marco Russi, Kuoni Group Travel Experts’ Vice President for Hotel Sourcing and Reservations to learn more about traveller expectations and how to better meet their needs when visiting Europe on group tours. Indonesia and Singapore are among the ten countries of the ASEAN region where the commercial aviation sector has great prospects for growth. Airlines are poised for rapid expansion over the next decade driven by rising demand for travel and increasing economic development and trade.1 Route and fleet expansion will help passenger volume for Indonesia’s airlines grow 10% this year, according the National Air Carriers Association.

Economic ministers also expect the region’s economy to perform better this year, particularly with the formal establishment of the ASEAN economic community. With an estimated population of 600 million, ASEAN is anticipated to join the ranks of China and India as a major economic growth force. The tour gives hoteliers the chance to better understand the contrasting natures of two dynamic travel markets: a boom in first-time, long-haul travellers from Indonesia eager to see iconic landmarks and attractions throughout Europe, as well as Singapore’s more mature traveller, interested in exploring destinations outside the capital and more bespoke itineraries.

Says Marco Russi, Kuoni Group Travel Expert’s Vice President for Hotel Sourcing and Reservations: “South East Asia presents enormous opportunity for the group travel industry with a mix of high volume mature source markets and faster-growing ones. Thanks to our close relationships with the travel trade throughout Asia, our itineraries feature first-rate access to the attractions and experiences that people want to see, coupled with the reassurance and security of native language tour guides, pre-planned meals and accommodation in hotels that are best able to meet their needs.”

As the world’s leading group travel provider, Kuoni Group Travel Experts bring 50,000 group tours to European destinations and book hundreds of thousands of room nights every year. During the week-long trip, hoteliers will learn more about the size, value and particular needs of South East Asia’s group travel trade. Kuoni Group Travel Experts will introduce them to key travel agents and tour operators to showcase their properties in a series of one-to-one appointments.

As Marco adds: “Decades ago, Kuoni helped establish the group travel industry from Asia to Europe. The huge number of group tours we support every year makes us an authority in helping hospitality providers learn more about the needs of Asian travellers. We have prepared an insight-packed week that will help Europe attract visitors from ASEAN’s growing nations in years to come, while helping educate South East Asia’s travel trade about the delights that await them in Europe.”

Italy, France and Switzerland remain the leading destinations for group travellers from Singapore, although the Netherlands saw a 7% rise in the number of room nights booked to overtake Germany into fourth place last year. The number of room nights booked for Croatia almost doubled last year pushing fellow eastern European destinations Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary further down in popularity. Although smaller volumes at present, Ireland and Russia are enjoying the highest year on year increases in group travel from Singapore.

France is the most popular destination for Indonesian group travellers, followed by Italy and Switzerland with little other change in their top ten destinations compared to 2013. Interest in Turkey rose enormously and ahead of Norway last year, while the number of room nights booked in Argentina, Slovakia and Slovenia more than doubled.
