Airline thefts have been increasing the world over and you can never be sure when you could be the next victim of an airline theft. Be on your guard, before you realize, your valuables may be pinched by someone in the plane. And that is exactly what happened in the Turkey to Hong Kong Emirates flight.
A man flying to Hong Kong claimed that his goods worth $260,000, were stolen which included two watches and foreign currency. These were stolen from his luggage that was in the plane’s carry-on bin.
The incident happened to a 39 years Turkish merchant flying from Turkey to Hong Kong. The man reported the incident to the airline staff who called the Hong Kong police.
Mid-air airline theft has been increasing in the recent years and 60 cases were reported last year, up from 48 in 2014.
The theft mostly happens in medium and long haul flights said Hong Kong’s Secretary for Security Lai Tung-Kwok. He also warned travellers to exert caution when carrying expensive goods.
