Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Charles E. Roberts ruled in a final judgment that firm client Williams, Parker, Harrison, Dietz & Getzen P.A. was owed $1,020,287 in costs and attorneys’ fees to after it prevailed against claims of professional negligence and breach of fiduciary duty in a 2011 jury trial.
In a suit filed in 2008, the plaintiffs alleged that Williams Parker and two of its attorneys were negligent in legal representation provided during the purchase of a medical office building in 2007. The defendants offered a settlement to the plaintiffs which was rejected, and the case went to trial in 2011. The jury returned a complete verdict in favor of the defense. Phelps Dunbar partners Jessica K. Alley, Lawrence Ingram and Shannon Rodriguez represented Williams Parker in the litigation. The case is Tibar, LLC v. Williams, Parker, Harrison, Dietz & Getzen, et al.
