42nd Tartu Maraton set a new enrolee record-Visitestonia

Today’s numbers show that the 42nd Tartu Maraton has altogether 8300 registered participants, which is the biggest number of enrolled skiers during the last 25 years.

63 km distance has 6432 enrolled skiers; 1868 participants will go to the 31 km distance. As only 2000 people are allowed to the shorter 31 km distance there are only 132 places left.

Right now there are participants from 28 countries, for example Luxembourg, USA and Canada are represented. 21% of registered skiers (1772 people) will attend the Tartu Maraton for the very first time. Altogether there are 715 foreigners who will take part in the ski festival for the first time.

Tartu Maraton is the 7th stage of the FIS Marathon Cup (FMC). Anders Aukland (NOR), leader of FMC and two-times winner of Tartu Maraton is one of the elite racers coming to start on the 17th of February as is Jerry Ahrlin (SWE), also a two-time winner of Tartu Maraton. Stanislav Rezac (CZE), one-time winner of Tartu Maraton will definitely also put up a fight for the highest place on the podium.

In the history of Tartu Maraton there is only one man who has won the first place three times – Estonian Raul Olle. 42nd Tartu Maraton will show if Olle will hold the title of the man who has won the Tartu Maraton the most.

Sandra Hansson (NOR), three times winner of the Tartu Maraton from ladies side will definitely be racing for the first place.
