Star Alliance kicked off the New Year by receiving the Best Airline Alliance Award from Business Traveler Magazine. For the current awards readers were polled in 2013 and could vote for the best in class in the nine categories, including Best Airlines by Region, Best Air Travel Experience, Best Marketing and Customer Connection, Best Loyalty Programs and the Best in Global Travel.
The North America edition is part of the growing global network of magazines bearing the “Business Traveller” name in the title.
Many Business Traveler readers are also regular travelers on the 28 airline strong Star Alliance network. In total, more than 720 million passengers per year use the services provided by the longest serving international airline alliance, which currently offers seamless travel across more than 21,900 daily flights to 1328 airports in 195 countries. In addition to seamless global travel, the Alliance provides a variety of customer benefits over and beyond what a single airline can offer. The most valued benefits are those linked to the frequent flyer programmes (FFP), where customers collect and redeem miles, kilometres or points on any of the member carriers’ flight.
Accrued mileage counts towards higher status – Star Alliance Gold and Silver – in the selected FFP and can be redeemed for example for free flights or a one cabin upgrade on eligible member carriers. In addition, Star Alliance Gold and Star Alliance Silver members are recognised as valuable customer on all Star Alliance member airlines, with members receiving benefits such as: Priority Check-In, increased Baggage Allowance, access to more than 1,000 lounges and Priority Baggage Delivery.
