AACO all set to open in Doha tonight

AACO-PR-300x193 (1)Under the Patronage of His Highness The Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO) Annual General Meeting (AGM) – hosted by Qatar Airways – will open tonight, 5th of November, during the General Opening Ceremony to be held at Al Gassar Resort in Doha, Qatar.

Representing the Patron, His Excellency Mr. Jassim Seif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport, will deliver the opening address. Followed by AGM Chairman Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways’ Chief Executive Officer, and AACO Secretary General, Mr. Abdul Wahab Teffaha.

The AGM will continue on 6th – 7th November at the Doha Sheraton Resort & Convention Hotel. It is expected to attract more than 300 leaders in the Arab and global aviation industry.

Working Sessions of the AGM will be held on November 6th in the Sheraton’s Al Dafna Hall during which AACO Secretary General will present a report on the State of the Industry. Arab Civil Aviation Commission (ACAC) Director General, Mr. Mohammad Al Alj, will speak about the common issues between AACO and ACAC, while International Air Transport Association (IATA) Chief Executive Officer and Director General Tony Tyler will talk about issues concerning the global aviation industry. This will be followed by a closed working session dedicated for AACO members to discuss and decide on internal and administrative issues related to AACO’s work and common strategic issues between members.

A special afternoon discussion session is scheduled to be held on the same day with the participation of several esteemed speakers. Mr. Richard Quest, CNN anchor and correspondent, will moderate the session that will discuss the “Global Outlook of Arab Airlines”.

The General Meeting will conclude its work that day with a press conference featuring the AGM Chairman and AACO Secretary General, who will be available to answer questions of the media. The following day, 7th November, is a networking day for attendees.

Established in 1965 by the Arab League of States and headquartered in Beirut, AACO is a non-profit organization gathering 30 Arab member airlines and aims to promote cooperation, quality and safety standards among its carriers. AACO as well works on enhancing human resources working in air transport through various training courses provided by AACO’s regional training center based in Amman, with a branch in Cairo. In addition, AACO coordinates extensively with regional and international organizations such as ICAO and IATA.
