Abu-Dhabi-300x181A glittering ‘Oscar-style’ gala dinner in the five-star The St. Regis Abu Dhabi on February 19 will bring the curtain down on the sixth Gourmet Abu Dhabi culinary festival.

The fiercely contested ‘Oscars’ of the UAE capital’s F&B industry will be given to individuals and restaurants judged to have most contributed to Abu Dhabi’s culinary evolution.

Guests will be in for a feast with the cuisine of the UAE’s only female celebrity chef, Khulood Atiq, being served up at a pre-dinner reception. The gala dinner will feature courses prepared by British masterchef Theo Randall, Chef Paul Lupto of Rhodes 44 (The St. Regis Abu Dhabi), and chefs from The St. Regis Abu Dhabi and InterContinental Abu Dhabi, led by Danny Kattar – last year’s ‘Executive Chef Of TheYear’ winner. The night will round off with a special dessert presented by French luxury chocolate brand Valrhona and created by the Rhodes 44 team.

With popular local TV and radio personality Tom Urquhart as master of ceremonies, the evening’s entertainment will include ‘paintings’ by international speed artist Brad Blaze, who will ‘paint’ Abu Dhabi’s most iconic landmarks between courses, and use his artistry to ‘unveil’ the 2014 ‘Executive Chef Of The Year’.

Popera Trio, a leading music act from Australia and New Zealand, will perform modern day classics from the likes of Andrea Bocelli and Michael Buble. Rounding off the entertainment will be American stand-up comedian Mike Batayeh.
