Air India flight No. AI-890 with 173 passengers and crew members onboard dodged an imposing accident on Sunday. The New Delhi bound Air India flight made an emergency landing at Sanganer Airport, however, its rear tyre suffered a sudden burst and its wing tip was damaged. There were no reports of injuries.
The flight via Guwahati was diverted to Sanganer Airport because of poor visibility amid the dense fog conditions at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in the national capital. The aircraft’s rear tyre burst in the process of landing, but the pilot managed to bring the plane to a halt in the middle of the runway.
Though there was commotion in the plane when it came to a halt with a jerk, all the passengers disembarked safely. They were sent to New Delhi by special buses. The schedule of over a dozen flights was disrupted because of the runway being blocked.
