Air Niugini scheduled flights in and out of Tokua airport, East New Britain this morning (Monday, 1st September 2014) operated as normal.
The strong South Easterly winds continue to blow volcanic ashes away from the aerodrome and the surrounding areas.
Although, there is continuous low level volcanic activity with ash up to 3000ft over Rabaul area in light and variable wind conditions, the aerodrome at Tokua and the surrounding areas are clear.
This morning’s flights – PX 252, PX 253, PX 842 and PX 275 operated safely in and out of Tokua airport.
Air Nuigini continues to monitor the situation and would take appropriate action if and when necessary.
