Airports Authority of India launches a ”Tree plantation drive” at Safdurjung Airport

Tree-plantation-drive (1)Airports Authority of India organized a” Tree plantation drive by school children” in Association with Delhi’s premier hotel “The Lalit” and “Delhi Pollution Control Committee(DPCC)”.
 

Around 200 school children of different schoolsparticipated in the tree plantation program with great enthusiasm and fanfare. 1200 saplings of different varieties including various fruits and herbs were planted by the school children. Shri Ashok Lavasa, Secretary (Civil Aviation), Government of India who has avid interest in nature and environment related activities, was the Chief Guest on this occasion.

 

In his address, Shri Lavasa stressed on sustainable development by planting of trees and need of participation of children in such programs to make them aware of the ramifications. Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Secretary Environment, Delhi Government & Chairman DPCC, Shri Sudhir Raheja, Member (Planning), Shri V Somasundaram, Member (ANS) and Smt. Upma Srivastava CVO AAI were also present on this occasion.

Airports Authority of India launched Tree Plantation Drive at Safdarjung Airport, New Delhi in which 1200 saplings of different varieties including various fruits and herbs were planted by 200 students from various schools. Seen in the picture are Shri Ashok Lavasa, Secretary (Civil Aviation) and Smt. N. Lavasa planting the sapling during the plantation drive. Also seen in the picture are Shri Kalra, RED(NR) and Shri JS Yadav, renowned horticulturist and other senior officers of AAI.
