American Airlines today issued the following statement on the passage of legislation that will extend the authorization of the Federal Aviation Administration charter through September 2017.
“American Airlines commends Congress for passing an extension to the current FAA bill and ensuring our nation’s air transportation continues without interruption,” said American’s Chairman and CEO Doug Parker. “We thank Chairman Shuster, Ranking Member DeFazio, Chairman Thune and Ranking Member Nelson for their leadership in reaching this extension.
“American remains steadfast in the belief that the best way forward is a fundamental change to the way the FAA and the U.S. air traffic control system are structured and we are committed to working with Congress to achieve that goal. A reformed and modernized ATC system would bring U.S. aviation back to the forefront of innovation and technology, reduce delays and operational costs, and enable airlines to provide more reliable service to our customers.”
