Bollywood-star-Amir-Khan-300x166A-list Bollywood star Amir Khan’s public endorsement of the beauty and hospitality of Assam has been made him virtually the ambassador for the state, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said here om Friday.
As ‘Amir fever’ gripped the state following the ace actor’s arrival for a week-long sojourn a couple of days back, a demand for making Mr Khan the ambassador of the state was also being raised.
The chief minister, who spoke to the star over telephone, said the actor was duly impressed with the ‘nature of the people and the nature of the state’.
‘Amir Khan said he and his wife wanted to visit Assam since long but somehow it could materialize only now. He has been impressed by our people and beauty,’ Mr Gogoi said at a press conference here.
To a poser if the Lagaan star would be made the brand ambassador for the state, Mr Gogoi said, ‘He has almost become the ambassador for our state by speaking so highly of the state.’
The chief minister, however, did not clarify if any move has been made to make the state official endorse and promote the state.
Mr Gogoi said Mr Khan and his family’s visit also sent out the message that it was safe to visit Assam.
