Powered by a specially-painted locomotive celebrating veterans and showcasing the past, present and future of America’s Railroad, the Amtrak Exhibit Train will be open for free tours during the Streamliners at Spencer railroad festival from May 29 to June 1. The event will be at the North Carolina Transportation Museum, 411 S. Salisbury Ave., Spencer, N.C.

The Exhibit Train allows visitors to take a self-guided tour to catch a glimpse of more than four decades of history of America’s Railroad® providing mobility and connectivity to the nation. Visitors can view attractions such as workable signals, virtual sleeping accommodation, a locomotive control stand and horns. Onboard display will be photos, uniforms, vintage advertising and memorabilia from the beginning of Amtrak in 1971 to today’s modern sleeping cars and high-speed rail service. The train consists of two locomotives, three renovated baggage cars and one bistro car, all with historic paint schemes.
