Amtrak Moving America Where it Wants to Go This Thanksgiving Season

Amtrak-logo-300x124Amtrak is prepared to move America where it wants to go this Thanksgiving season.

Passengers are encouraged to plan ahead and book their tickets early for the best availability, pricing and to avoid the last minute rush.

Families travel “hassle-free” on Amtrak to connect with friends and relatives during the holiday – the busiest travel week of the year.

To accommodate an expected surge of additional riders, Amtrak will operate every available passenger rail car in its fleet and is scheduling extra trains and adding capacity on routes in the Northeast, Midwest, Pacific Northwest and California.

Special Thanksgiving Holiday Timetables are now available online for some routes around the country, including Northeast Corridor services, Keystone Service, Empire Service and Michigan services.

These expanded timetables offer day-by-day schedules to make it easier for passengers to find trains for a specific day of travel.

Passengers also will find many new or renovated stations since last year’s Thanksgiving, including in St. Paul, Minn., Grand Rapids and Troy, Mich., Winter Park, Fla. and Denver, Colo.

The busiest travel days are the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after the holiday.

Other than Thanksgiving Day, morning trains typically have more availability than those in the afternoon and evening.
