Amtrak-logo-300x124The following statement is made by Amtrak President and CEO Joe Boardman regarding the creation of the Alliance for American Competitiveness and the economic focus they bring to the federal transportation investment discussion:

“Amtrak applauds the Alliance for American Competitiveness (AFAC) for bringing increased attention to how improved transportation infrastructure is essential to our nation’s economic growth, job creation and global competitiveness.

“The core companies of the AFAC– UPS, Honeywell, Dow Chemical, BNSF and Caterpillar—rely on an integrated and smoothly functioning transportation supply chain to achieve their success in interstate commerce.

Amtrak, too, requires the same ease of transport for the interstate business we operate and which our infrastructure supports—the safe movement of hundreds of millions of intercity and commuter rail passengers each year.

“Now is the time to act. The people out there—customers, constituents, citizens and taxpayers—want good and relevant transportation solutions that advance our national economic goals and help to keep our great country moving forward.”
