Appreciate Hong Kong campaign to include public participation

Appreciate Hong Kong campaignChief Secretary Carrie Lam has kicked off Appreciate Hong Kong, a five-month citywide public participation campaign.

Featuring 10 highlighted programmes, it includes visits to major theme parks, free admission to museums, plus shopping events and carnivals to be held between December and April, some of them targeting the underprivileged.

The launch was attended by senior government officials and more than 250 representatives from different sectors. Mrs Lam said this year’s campaign is intended to be even more meaningful with greater cohesive force than the Hong Kong: Our Home and Bless Hong Kong campaigns held in 2013 in 2014.

There are four areas behind the English name of the Appreciate Hong Kong campaign, she said: appreciation, gratitude, understanding and adding value.

“Hong Kong is nowadays facing a number of difficulties and challenges. People should take more action so that Hong Kong can continue to shine,” she said.

The campaign aims to bring together the public, the business sector, the Government, academia and others for activities of all sorts that complement the main campaign themes.

Programmes that suit the campaign themes can be proposed to relevant government officials responsible for 12 different sectors. Click here for details.

The Government will include suitable items in the event and programme schedule, and launch a dedicated website in early December.
